Impressions of France
from Henouville, Normandie children

The following impressions of France are taken from messages and materials sent by elementary school students in Henouville, France.

Place: Henouville is in the state of Normandie in northern France. It is located near Rouen along the Seine river.

Nature: The land in Normandie seems flat with a few rolling hills ending in cliffs at the ocean.

Sports and Hobbies: Soccer, Tennis, Roller-blading, Bicycling, Basketball, Ping-pong, Handball, Ice-skating, Horse-riding, and Cooking.

StyleFKids like the annual carnival celebration. Animation characters like Bugs Bunny, Dragon Ball Z, and others are popular. Favorite music includes the Spice Girls (England), Micheal Jackson (America), and Celine Dion (Canada).

School: This is the playground in front of the elementary school.

History: The history of Normadie is interesting because it helps explain the tradition of conflict and rivalry between England and France.

One good example is the story of Joan of Arc, a queen of the Arc fiefdom in mideval Normandie. Because the English captured and executed her, she became a martyr and early symbol of France. The church on the right was built and dedicated in her honor in Normandie.
